For the love of crocky....

What's the first word that comes to your mind when someone says 'Crocodiles'?
  • HUGE
  • lazy
  • intimidating
  • murky
  • powerful
  • unpredictable
  • eerie
  • solid
  • sinister
With all these "seemingly" negative connotations, there was still one guy who LOVED the damn creature... made people stare open-mouthed as he casually stuck his head into the beast's mouth, or pulled a 10-footer on his back as if he was carrying a really heavy rucksack...

"Crocodiles. I've been catching them since I was nine. No problem."

He showed people how much fun being in the wild can be... he laughed at those who were scared of creatures... and he brought Australia to the rest of the otherwise "America-focused" world.

Steve Irwin - the Crocodile Hunter - died today in as dramatic an incident as the rest of his life. He was struck in the chest by a stingray's barb while filming underwater in the Great Barrier Reef. What's strange is that the stingray is usually a very docile creature - attacking only when provoked or threatened. Only one other person in Australia has died from a stingray attack over 60 years ago.

Steve was a wonderful person, and I hope Australia dedicates something to this lover of adventure, thrill, and wilderness.
