How do you explain going home? Do you say it feels good, because you're going to see your folks after a long time.. or do you say it feels a little lukewarm, because of all the screw-ups that you have done, and it's going to be confession time now?
Hmm... I guess over a period of time this whole feeling about going home has changed.... Not the food - home food is still the biggest attraction factor to go home - but you stop thinking of going home as a reclamation of life. It's more of a "this was my life a while back... and I'm just revisiting it to make sure the memories don't fade out."
Don't get me wrong... it's not the people I'm talking about... but your life, as it existed, when you used to live at home. The sights and sounds and smells that were so much a part of your life... now lingering at the back of your tongue like good chocolate...
Perhaps the bigger fear today, is "What if I go home and realize that I miss everything so much that I want to come back?" That it's great to live by yourself... be independent.. and free... but it sucks to be lonely... even if it's for a few minutes.

For the love of crocky....
What's the first word that comes to your mind when someone says 'Crocodiles'?
"Crocodiles. I've been catching them since I was nine. No problem."
He showed people how much fun being in the wild can be... he laughed at those who were scared of creatures... and he brought Australia to the rest of the otherwise "America-focused" world.
Steve Irwin - the Crocodile Hunter - died today in as dramatic an incident as the rest of his life. He was struck in the chest by a stingray's barb while filming underwater in the Great Barrier Reef. What's strange is that the stingray is usually a very docile creature - attacking only when provoked or threatened. Only one other person in Australia has died from a stingray attack over 60 years ago.
Steve was a wonderful person, and I hope Australia dedicates something to this lover of adventure, thrill, and wilderness.

- eerie
- solid

Of night shows and cry baby movies...
**Like this song 'Bolo na' by Sona... really slow and serene**
Saw KANK last night... somehow all Karan Johar movies seem exactly the same to me... lots of people.. lots of fungama in the first half... and tons of (equally distributed) crying in the second half. Oh, and someone just has to die. It's mandatory.
Sudhish had compared this movie to Closer. I saw Closer a while back and I really liked it. It was a very different kind of movie. Yes, it dealt with infidelity, but in a way that made it look like a mystery, love story, sattire combined in one. More than the theme and the people, I liked the way the movie had been made - each frame was a different piece... and the whole thing came together seamlessly as one movie. I wouldn't say that the movie appealed to my better senses, or that I agree with its primary characters... but it's a movie that I would recommend people to see.. just to get a flavor of how different one kneaded theme can be dealt with.
That said, KANK was very very Indian-ized. And what's with Indian movies and women having male friends. It's very rare (especially in Hindi movies) to see a guy and a girl being best friends and nothing else. They just have to (both, or at least one) fall in love... or left with a feeling of emptiness in the end... so stupid!
Probably one of the only scenes that I liked was when Amitabh is in the hospital (apart from the Karan Johar principle that he just had to die, there was no sane reason for pushing him into the heart attack scene) and he tells Abhishek that he really missed his wife. That was super Amitabh.
Oh, and the Rock n Roll song was the best... simply because the dad and son duo looked simply awesome on screen. Abhishek truly rocks... perhaps he should've been cast as "Don" instead of our sugar boy ;-)
